  2. So a Denon X3700H 9 channel if you add BasX 3 Channel for Focal 100 Series LCR foe the front stage how much of a difference would that make if measuring watts per speaker for a 5.2.4 configuration

  3. The A300 is now retire…i just check emotiva..i think they regret this product just a heads up..hope you and the family are doing great chow.

  4. I currently have an Onkyo NR696 running a 5.2.2 set up. I don't have any pre outs and I was wondering if it would be possible run one of these amps? I'm more familiar with car audio and running a high quality line out converter for this type of situation, but from what I've read it's frowned upon for home theater.

  5. @youthman Hello, I am considering purchasing the Polk Reserve R350 and R200. I am looking for an amp with a smaller footprint. Would the A3 be powerful enough to run these speaker?

  6. Disappointed!! Firstly had to buy a power cord adapter as it was USA plug not Australia. Power everything up for LCR, so my Denon AVR-X4700H Doesn't have to the heavy lifting, only to find when i turn volume up to about 85% the Emotiva BasX 3 shuts down. It’s not even running hot, slight warm to touch. At 85% volume from my Denon AVX4700H i get (for 2-CH stereo) about 103dBA, with the Emotiva i lose 10dBA and only get 93dBA, and if i click it up just one more the auto cut-off kicks in. How Can this be, when the Specs of the Emotiva BasX3 (150W x 2 Ch driven into 8 ohm) is better than that of the Denon AVR-X4700H. (130W x 2 Ch driven into 8 ohm) ???? Please explain Emotiva!!! Try to post this review on Emotiva website and it wont post??? Only “Good Reviews allowed”??

  7. They all have 1% distortion into 4 ohms which is 10 times their distortion into 8 ohms. Why such a huge difference? In stereo mode, my old 5 channel Sony STR-DA5200ES is spec'd to be 120W RMS per channel with no more than .09% THD into 8 ohms from 20 Hz – 20 kHz, or .15% THD into 4 ohms. So it's a little lower THD than the BasX's at 8 ohms and almost 7 times lower at 4 ohms.

  8. Might sound dumb but are you able to daisy chain 3 of these if I have a 5.2.4 just cause it might look cool? 1500 bucks sounds good if this is possible. Thank you for any input.

  9. I have a 9 speaker setup running off an Onkyo TX-RZ830 and was wondering if I get the emotiva A3 can I run my two Klipsch towers model KF-28 and my center channel klipsch R-34c? I have a two channel NILES 2100 and wanted to know if it's a good idea to change it for this 3 channel emotiva?

  10. Can someone answer this for me? I want the A3 for my front stage. Specs say 140wpc into 8ohms and (something else) into 4ohms. My front L/R speakers are 6ohms. Will the Emotive drive them without problems? If so, at what rating? Any info/education on this is appreciated.

  11. As an owner of over $10,000 worth of Emotiva gear i have the right to post this message,be wary of basing a theater systems or hifi system based around emotiva electronics ,Emotiva can & has sold customers the companys top of the emotiva line gear ,then left us high & dry as far as servicing amplifiers that are out of warranty ,the main equipment im speaking of is Emotivas statement 1,000 watt @8 ohm/@,1,750 watt @4ohm XPR 1 monoblocks ,Emotiva also refuses to service their 2 channel cost no object reference amp the XPR 2 stereo amp rated at 600 wpc @4 ohms or 1200 wpc @4ohms ,the XPR 1 monoblocks cost me roughly $3,500 a pair while the XPR 2 stereo amp cost me $1,600 if remembering right ,thats over $5 grand in amplifiers that are built like tanks to last a lifetime except little things burn out ,such as power buttons ,12 volt trigger ports ,the LED wattage meters etc .

Those of us who own Emotivas most expensive reference amplifiers expressed our discontent in several threads in the Emotiva lounge ,we were given BS excuses by co-owner Lonnie i believe that shipping was too expensive when nobody expects free shipping & agreed to pay all shipping costs ,we all agreed to pay for all costs just like sending an amp thats out of warranty back to Mcintosh ,Crown ,Krell etc and Emo management refuses to repair our amps ,but Emotiva didnt stop with just those 2 reference amps,Emotiva made the biggest bang for the buck multi channel amp with their 5 channel XPR 5 amp that puts out 300wpc @8 ohms to all 5 channels or 600 wpc @4 ohms to all 5 channels ,its a complicated modular amplifier that no hifi tech will touch and it set us back $2,000 ,so if your like me & bought a pair of XPR 1 monoblocks ,a single XPR 2 stereo amp and the XPR 5 modular 5 channel amp,you have $7,000 to $7,500 worth of Emotivas " Reference " amplifiers taking up space .

For me its not about the money down the pipe ,my CD player cost as much as all 4 amps and my preamp costs $4,000 more than all the Emotiva amps combined ,its about spending $22,000 on line array front speakers ,$12,000 on rear speakers & $6,800 on a center channel that sounds their best when being driven by the Emotiva amps that ni other amp i own or have demoed can equal in performance .

Several of us XPR owners purchased the top of the line Emotiva amps on the strength of the long awaited partnership with Bob Carver,Emotiva tube amps and tube preamps were promised if we all just waited a little longer ,in my case i spent $7 grand on amps that stayed in a closet for 18 months awaiting the promises Emotiva tube preamp and a Emotiva stereo tune amp for triamping my tweeters ,ive went from an Emotiva lover to an Emotiva hater after being forced to purchase a pair of Mc-901 dual mono mononlocks to drive woofers & tweeters at a cost of $16,900 as well as purchasing a pair of 300 watt Mc-2301 tube monoblocks to drive my tweeters at $17,000 ,oh the white mans troubles the die hard at other peoples costs fan boys will say but desp down we all know its wrong for Emotiva to refuse to service the best amplifiers in the companys history, especially when the service costs & shipping both ways would fall onto owners laps & cost Emotiva nothing ,i really want to warn people who may not be able to have thousands of dollars in amps collecting dust because emotiva changed their mind & can no longer be bothered servicing your amps when there is no longer any profit in it for them ,every few months i repost my nightmare with emotiva on Audiogon ,Audiokarma & a few other forums to warn people of Emotivas service policy thats worse than all other mid fi manufacturer.

  12. The A3 will be in my system in the near future. In several weeks I'll be pulling the trigger on a pair of Emo T1+'s and then the cheaper Emo CC around a month later. I'm stoked!

  13. This is great news, Love emotiva products and have been thinking of ways to lessen the strain on the receiver and this is an amazing idea to run the front 3 channels..on a good budget too..thanks for the review youthman and thanks to Emotiva for coming up with this!!

  14. think of getting an A4 for bi-amping the fronts, I have to disable it now on my maranta 7012 because I got 4 hight channels now, good idea ?

  15. Youthman, I recently bought an emotiva amplifier. It has a standby mode button and an off switch. Can I leave an amplifier on standby mode if I’m not using it or should I always switch it off?

  16. No XLR connections?..But I guess I can understand given the price point of these AND if the target market is for those using pre outs of an AVR

  17. Thanks for this man I been wanting to have in emotiva amplifier this is gateway to separates I never would go to av receiver power again av receivers dont have good enough amplifier power like old ones did a least with and amplifier you dont have to upgrade after that

  18. I just ordered an a3 to try out on my LCR. My Denon X4700H needs at least 2 external amp channels to run 7.2.4 so you either drive the two rear heights or the front L/R with an external amp.

Been using my Outlaw 5000 to do it up till now but it seems silly to have a 5ch amp only running 2 or 3 channels. I want to move the Outlaw upstairs to a different setup.

I tried the Outlaw 5000 on the LCR first of course but the Denon amps running the front stage actually sound better at low levels imho. Once you crank it maybe the Outlaw wakes the speakers up but at regular daily listening levels I really think the Denon sounds better…more detail.

I am hoping the Emotiva amp fits the bill. If it doesn't sound better than the 4700 front stage I will just run the rear heights with it and have an extra channel.

  19. can we use an AVR as a sound processor? does a dedicated sound processor has any advantage over a traditional AVR in terms of processing sound, because I'm thinking of power rear and atmos channels using an avr and connect LCR to an A3

  20. Really wish more companies made 3 or 4 channel amps. It's pretty much always 2, 5, 7, etc… with the growing popularity of 3d sound and people adding in-ceiling speakers, 4 channel amps would sell really well I'd think

  21. EMOTIVA understands that not only the wealthy love home theater… the companies sensitive to this will do well… tired of all the high end content outside the reach of most… awesome content Youthman!!
