I've been to 68 countries. Chiang Rai is the loveliest place that I have visited. A different pace of life to Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Bangkok with fantastic places to visit. The people are the friendliest in the world as well, apart from my Thai wife when she is grumpy.

Dude, seriously? You rate nightlife somewhere before it gets dark? That's so misleading. I've lived in Chiang Rai, and while it has a fraction of Chiang Mai's scene, to be fair, some of Chiang Rai's bars don't open until after dark. At the least, you can't judge how cool a place is or isn't by how many people are there at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Not to mention, as you admit, it's low season in June. Have you ever been there in the Winter when it's difficult to even find a place to stay because everything is booked full? PS you only showed a portion of the "red light district". Otherwise, nice camera work!

Chiang Rai sounds good to me. My party days are over. Just want good food and non sexual Thai massage, and reasonable accomodations. The weather is better too. Thanks for the video. I've been to Chaing Rai but that was in 1990. It's grown a lot!
