also tried manually creating topics, they also dont have this button when created.

I do not want to see this google cloud platform as part of my existence. HOW IN THE HELL DO I DELETE IT? I do not care about specifically deleting billing or projects – I just WANT THE ENTIRE APP TO BE NO LONGER CONNECTED WITH ME. I have google storage, youtube, and gmail and the only way i can delete Google Cloud platform is to apparently delete my entire account which includes the other google things i need above (are you kidding me???!!!!). It is not even under my selection of things to delete when I go to data and personalization in my google account – in other words it doesn't exist to be deleted, but I am looking at it right now and it exists. WTF??? Please help….
Is it safe to shut down billing? Won't that have risks of losing data from the related services?
so i'm completly new to cloud computing. following this step by step gave me an error throwing cloud function loop. seeing the api calls rise slowly gave me the slowest heart attack in the world haha. had to add the billing api and give the app engine service account the rights.

Should I expect the billing to get disabled as soon as I publish the test message, or I need to wait for some time? Because I think i did everything right, but the billing is not getting disabled. I've double checked that the Cloud function, cloud built and cloud billing API's are enabled, and that I've put in the correct project ID. What else could go wrong? I'm using this in INR instead of USD. Does that affect anything?
If you keep the alerts of 20, 50% on, will the function to stop the billing be triggered when the first of these alerts is reached?
Thanks for this well done video, I'm going to try this on my setup. I just started a couple micro vm's to host wordpress sites a couple months ago and I only was charged like a penny a day, but just last night my compute engine costs went up to .50 cents. Hopefully this helps
For anyone who follows this tutorial – make sure to test it at least with "Publish Message" option as Macgyver recommended.
In my case it wasn't enough to just create pub/sub + cloud function and link it (cloud function lacked permissions to disable billing), I also needed to enable "Cloud Billing API", "Identity and Access Management (IAM) API", and set "Project Billing Manager" permission for App Engine default service account (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/53305784/signingerror-with-firebase-getsignedurl for more info on permissions)
